Do you need an air purifier in your home?

3/15/2021 (Permalink)

According to IQAir, the most polluted cities in Georgia are

  1. Warner Robins
  2. Macon
  3. Albany
  4. McDonough
  5. Valdosta
  6. Atlanta

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted a few experiments on human exposure to air pollutants and they found that the indoor levels of pollutants, such as wood burning, smoke from tobacco, dust mites, mold, nitrogen dioxide, pet dander, radon, etc. were two to five times (an in certain situations more than 100 times) higher than outdoor levels of pollutants. During the spring and summer there is an added risk due to the fact that humidity and high temperatures can increase the concentration of some pollutants.

An easy fix to improve the air quality of your home is invest in a good air purifier. Check Consumer Reports’ Air Purifier Buying Guide to find the best for your family. Make sure you choose one with a good filtration system such as HEPA filters,

3/22/2019 (Permalink)

Call us today! 678-432-3003

When you call SERVPRO of Henry and Spalding Counties to help you get rid of mold in your house or business, you know you are getting a qualified restoration company and trained mold damage specialists to tackle the mold problem. It is important to inspect your property for any sing of water damage that can rapidly turn into a mold issue. When our technicians find signs of microbial growth, their initial focus is to stop the water source creating the problem. It could be a leaking water heater, a busted pipe, a leaky roof, condensation, etc.  Once the source is completely fixed, we use different equipment to stabilize and clean the area. We place air scrubbers to remove the particles from the air, HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) vacuums to prevent the spread of mold spores while the mold remediation takes place. We make sure to apply an antimicrobial treatment to remove mold colonies and to prevent new colonies from forming. Our specialists will remove and replace any infested porous materials, such as drywall, carpet, and carpet pad.

Is Mold Hiding In Your Crawl Space or Attic?

3/22/2019 (Permalink)

Don't let mold take over your attic, call SERVPRO of Henry and Spalding Counties today!

When was the last time you went up to the attic? It was probably during the holidays and you probably were not checking for signs of mold. What about the crawl space? Well most people would avoid going down into that dark place where eight legged creatures are hiding in dark places. The attic and crawl space are probably the scariest places in your home (we hope), and because they are scary we tend to avoid going anywhere near them if we can avoid it. In our experience, 95% of all mold problems in crawl spaces and attics go totally unnoticed for long periods of time due to the fact that most people do not spend any time there.

You will probably find mold in crawl spaces and attics during a home inspection, when homeowners are getting ready to put their house on the market. It is shocking to think that mold was present for who knows how long!

Don’t wait until you are ready to get your house inspected, be proactive and act now! Get a flashlight and go up there from time to time and look for signs of mold. If you see mold, call us right away, we can help you make it "Like it never even happened."

Spring Has Sprung, Now Go Ahead and Inspect Your HVAC Unit

3/22/2019 (Permalink)

Inspect your HVAC Unit today!

Spring is the perfect season to clean your heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit (HVAC). How long has it been since you last check your HVAC unit? If it’s been a while, it could be not functioning properly, circulating dust, malodors and other pollutants. Poor air quality in your home or business can affect your sleep, exacerbate allergies, etc. To prevent this from happening, make sure the vents and ducts are clean, change your air filters regularly, and make sure to use a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter.

When in doubt, hire a professional to look at your HVAC unit. They will perform a thorough cleaning and make sure your unit is working properly. This will extend the life of the unit and save you money in the long run.

Is there a lingering musty or unpleasant smell in your home or office? Identifying and eliminating odors can be a tricky thing so call SERVPRO of Henry and Spalding Counties today and our IICRC-certified technician will help you get rid of any kind of bad odors.

As experts in deodorization, our odor control technicians will identify the source of the odor and completely remove it. Rest assured that we will not mask the odor or take any shortcuts. The crew will clean off residues, and use fog or sprays to deodorize different surfaces. If the smell is still present, they will place different equipment, such as a ventilation box fan, an ozone generator, a photocatalytic oxidizer, or an air scrubber to eliminate odor molecules. At the end of the process they will seal the affected surfaces to “seal in” any remaining malodors. The technicians will advise you if there is a need to get your carpets professionally deep-cleaned. You can also invest in an air purifying system, replace HVAC filters and regularly clean vents and ducts.

Ferst Readers of Henry County Spring Luncheon

3/21/2019 (Permalink)

Table decorated with the theme from the book Stars by Mary Lyn Ray

We were so lucky to sponsor a table at the Annual Ferst Readers of Henry County Spring Luncheon on March 20th, 2019. This event brings together business leaders, educators, county representatives, and the whole Henry County community to raise money for a great cause. The Ferst Readers of Henry County provides children in this county with books from birth until they turn five years old.

Everybody participating in this event has so much fun each year because each table has a theme based on a book. This year we chose to decorate our table inspired by the book Stars by Mary Lyn Ray.

The keynote speaker was Dr. Mary Elizabeth Davis, the superintendent of Henry County Schools. During her speech, she emphasized the importance and the huge impact that reading to our children from a young age helps them succeed later in life.
