Thanksgiving Safety Practices

Happy Thanksgiving From our SERVPRO Family, we wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires with more than three times the daily average. Cooking unattended is the largest factor in cooking fires and fire deaths, so make sure to pay special attention during this Holiday Season. Cooking causes over half of all reported home fires and close to 40% of home fire injuries, and it happens to be the leading case of home fire deaths. Here are some safety tips to keep in mind as you prepare your delicious feast this year.

1. Make sure to stay in the kitchen when you are cooking on the stove top.

2. Stay in the home when cooking your turkey, and make sure to check on it frequently.

3. Try to keep any children away from the stove.

4. Be sure any electric cords are not dangling off the counter.

5. Never leave lit candles alone- yes, they smell great, but they can easily cause a fire.

6. Make sure all smoke alarms are working. Test them by pushing the test button.

Enjoy your time with family and friends, but make sure to follow these tips to stay safe. If anything unforeseen happens, give us a call at 678-432-3003.

Happy Thanksgiving!
