A commercial sprinkler system uses approximately 15 gallons of water per minute. If just 2 zones are affected for 10 minutes, more than 300 gallons of water have caused tremendous damage to your property. As with the example mentioned above, sprinkler systems go off for many reasons besides fire.
What should Property Managers and Engineers do if that happens in their building? The most important thing to do is to turn the water off. It is important to know the location of the water shut-off, that is why we recommend having an ERP for the building, where it shows the location of the water shut-off, electrical panels, alarm systems, etc. If there is extensive water damage, call an expert in dealing with water mitigation for commercial buildings. This will save the building owners and managers time, money, and headaches.
